Prometheus .999 Silver Clay 50grams Compare with PMC3 and Art Clay Silver
Prometheus .999 Silver Clay is a low-fire clay that can be fired as low as 570ºC or as high as 700ºC It is pure silver (99.9%) after firing and can be kiln, torch and gas stove top fired.
Prometheus .999 Silver Clay consists of pure silver particles, binder and water. During firing, the binder burns away and the pure silver particles solidify.
Prometheus .999 Silver Clay has a long open time when wet, captures textures and fine details very well. It is stronger and less fragile in the dry stage than most other silver clays.
This Clay holds its form well during the wet stage and allows precise cutting and piercing with minimal distortion.
Due to it's low firing capabilities it's an excellent clay for combinations including glass, porcelain and ceramic materials, it is also suitable for firing with sterling silver findings or wires
(SV925 and higher quality recommended).
The strength of Prometheus® Silver Clay 999 fired at 700°C for 1 hour allows users to design stronger and more pliable jewellery pieces.
Firing schedule 1) place dried pieces into a kiln at room temperature and at full ramp speed to 570°C - hold for 1 hour. Shrinkage will be approximately 12%.
2) if a design requires pieces to bend into bracelets or ring loops, place dried pieces into a kiln at room temperature and fire pieces at full ramp speed to 700°C - hold for 1 hour.
Shrinkage will be approximately 14%.
Firing above 700ºC is not recommended and unnecessary.
