This Precious Metal Clay™ comes out of the kiln as a SOLID sterling silver piece! Because it is sterling, this clay will have more than twice the strength of original fine silver PMC--ideal for more delicate designs and for pieces that just have to have the added strength. Roll, mould, cut, shape and fire versatile PMC® Sterling like any ordinary clay. After firing, your design comes out of your kiln as a sterling silver object. Create jewellery, beads or components. Anything you can do with clay, you can do with PMC Sterling™! This is the clay that we all hoped and dreamed for. PMC Sterling™ is sterling silver in the form of a soft and malleable clay. It has all of the working properties of a soft clay when moist. It handles beautifully and stays moist longer than any of the other silver clay products. PMC Sterling™ can be shaped with fingers or modelling tools, it can be moulded, sculpted or pinched into any shape imaginable. When it is dry, PMC Sterling™ can be sanded, filed, drilled, carved and shaped. To transform the dry clay into solid sterling silver, a short 2-stage firing process is used. The first phase is 30 minutes at 538C on an open kiln shelf. This burns away the organic binder. The second phase is a 30 minute embedded in activated carbon firing at 815C. This phase fuses the PMC Sterling™ clay into a solid sterling silver object. To fire PMC Sterling™ you will need a jewellery kiln that is capable of reaching and holding both 538C and 815C.
