Art Clay Silver is a revolutionary contemporary clay that combines precious or base metal powders with non-toxic binders and water. It is manufactured by Aida Chemical Industries Co Ltd in Japan. When kiln, torch or stove top fired, the binders burn away and the metal fuses (also known as sintering) and the clay is transformed into a solid piece of silver or base metal jewellery. This process enables artists to create silver and base metal jewellery in a limited time and at a fraction of the cost of traditional silver and metalsmithing techniques. Typical metal clays manufactured in the Art Clay series are silver, gold or alloys of copper.
The New Formula Art Clay Silver is 99.9% pure when fired. It has the benefits of prolonged workability or open time and a low firing temperature of 650 degrees C. Art Clay Silver is available in clay or lump, paste, syringe or paper types.
Other formulations include Art Clay 950 (95% purity) Gold (22K) and Copper Clay.
