An asbestos free, ready mixed blend of thermo setting resins and temperature resistant inorganic fillers that cure when exposed to heat and form a seal that is resistant to temperatures up to 1250C.
It is normal for kiln bricks to crack over time. When you fire a kiln, the bricks expand and the gaps between the cracks close up. Hairline cracks do not need to be repaired.
Kiln experts recommend attending to cracks if they are affecting the kiln’s ability to insulate or if a crack or chip means the brick isn’t supporting the elements properly.
Using kiln repair paste is quite easy and a couple of spoonful's of paste will be enough for a small repair.
User Instructions:
Switch off the kiln! All repair surfaces must be clean, free from dust, grease and other contamination. To strengthen the bond, wet all surfaces that need to be repaired. Avoid repair paste making contact with the elements
Application: Use straight from the package. Can be softened with a small amount of water if necessary.
Work well into the joints or cracks with a small trowel, spatula or similar tool. After applying, gradually increase (ramp) kiln heat to 900C over a 4 hour period.
If necessary, fill in any new cracks with fresh paste and repeat the firing process.
The kiln is now ready to use.
