45° Hart Spearhead Burs

This is a selection of Swiss Made High-Speed Steel Burs known for their hardness and durability. Hart Burs stay sharper much longer than conventional tungsten-vanadium. With 3/32" shanks, our Hart HSS burs will fit any handpiece and most hand held pin vices. 

Use these 45 degree Burs to set gem stones into dry metal clay. The hole made using a bur will look cleaner with a slight bevel. 

Stone setting using a bur with dry metal clay. If needed, drill a small pilot hole for the azure (a light hole beneath the gem) and then cut the gemstone seat with a bur. The girdle of the stone should sit just below the surface of the metal clay. The stone will then be locked into place when the clay shrinks during firing/sintering. Choose a bur that matches the stone size to be set.
