3M Polishing Paper Strip Assortment

This assortment of 123mm x 23mm 3M micron graded abrasive polishing paper strips are a fantastic way to achieve a high shine or mirror finish on metals. The strip assortment of grits (2 strips of each 400, 600, 1200, 4000, 6000 and 8000 grits) will take metal all the way from a pre-polish satin finish to a super high sheen final polish.  An excellent way to polish silver and other metals by hand if you don't have power tools for polishing. These soft, cloth-like paper strips can be used after the coarser sanding papers or pads by simply working through the different coloured grits, changing the direction you are working in after each grit. These USA manufactured 3m polishing papers are a very popular option with customers who use all metals but they are especially effective with silver clay as the purer silver is particularly receptive to more gentle polishing methods. The strips and strong flexible fabric like backing make it much easier to get into those hard-to-reach spaces.

This 3m micron graded abrasive polishing paper assortment and size are also perfect for polishing the frets on any musical instrument with frets. Over time sweat or dirt take the shine and smoothness out of frets, making them feel scratchy and the strings will not glide over the frets as they once did. For simple maintenance this perfectly sized polishing paper assortment, can be used to bring the shine and smoothness back into the frets to make playing feel silky smooth again. Suitable for any instrument with frets, including electric, acoustic and bass guitars.

Instructions for polishing frets:

1. Remove strings and place a suitable fretboard protector over the fret that you want to polish.

2. Start with the lowest micron/grit polishing paper (Green 400 grit)

3. Rub the polishing paper along the length of the fret from bass to treble - back and forth. Make sure to polish the whole fret.

4. Repeat process by going up the grades of polishing papers until the fret is smooth and shiny

3M Polishing papers are colour coded for easy identification. Mark each paper on the reverse side to remind you of the grit and also the correct side to use.
