Make your own pins, brooches and hat decorations out of silver clay!

These fire in place brooch findings are very simple to use. The .980 fine silver base parts (hinge and catch) can be pressed into the wet silver clay or set on top of dry silver clay. REMEMBER the pin cannot be fired in place and needs to be attached and set after firing. 

There are different methods to secure the hinge and catch of the brooch securely. Either

1) Use a silver clay syringe to decorate over the hinge and catch to secure. This works best on top of a dried silver clay base

2) Cut a small, thin shape out of silver clay and use paste to secure the hinge and catch between the cut out shape and the clay base. This method can be used on either a dry or wet clay base. To maintain a crisp looking finish, the cut out shape can be applied dry. A wet shape will bend or drape over the hinge/catch.

Or 3) Simply push the hinge/catch into the wet clay, gently mould the clay over the hinge/catch and fill or caulk in any gaps with silver clay paste or clay.

To make sure the brooch pin fits correctly, always carefully measure where to place the two hinge/catch parts. After the piece has been fired and finished, fit the pin into the hinge component and squeeze shut using pliers.

The brooch joint and catch components are made of .980 fine silver. The pin should be attached and secured into the fired in place joint after firing.
