Art Clay Gold Paste 

Art Clay Gold Paste comes in a viscous liquid form with a bottle of medium. You can add texture or draw directly on the surface of fired Art Clay Silver, ceramic, porcelain and/or glass with Art Clay Gold Paste.

K24 Gold ratio before firing: 77.5%    Gold purity after firing: K22

Package contents: Gold Paste: 1.5 gram / *Bottle of Medium: 5ml.

* The Bottle of Medium is used to dilute Art Clay Gold Paste for a lighter gold colour on fired Art Clay Silver surfaces, ceramics, porcelain and glass.

77.5% of indicated weight is 24K gold which becomes 22K gold after firing.

Art Clay Gold Paste comes in a viscous liquid form. This means its possible to texture and draw on the surface of fired Art Clay Silve, ceramic, porcelain and/or glass.

This product is water based and can dry up, so always keep the container tightly capped. If it is dries up, add an appropriate amount of water to recover its original state.

If you need to build the Gold layers more than 0.5mm in thickness, fire the piece first, and then build another layer on top of the fired gold area. Repeat until reaching your desired thickness.

The surface of the fired area where Gold Paste was applied will be matte in color due to crystallization, but a luster can be obtained by polishing.

Do not polish gold overlaid area on the glazed surface too hard, as it may chip off with the glazed surface. Polishing the area with light gliding stroke is enough bring out the shine. If the Gold area chips off during polishing, it is possible to attach it with Art Clay Silver Overlay Silver Paste*. *Requires second firing to attach.

Diluting Art Clay Gold Paste

To dilute Art Clay Gold Paste, take out the amount needed and place it in a separate container.  Depending on the desired colour of gold needed, add a small amount of water or medium, mix well.

*Recommended ratio for diluting the Gold Paste with the medium is 3 (Gold Paste) : 1 (Medium).

Preparation

Clean the surface of the porcelain, glass or ceramic with alcohol, or soap and water to remove dust or oil. Dust or oil will prevent the Gold Paste from adhering to the surface.

*Prepare a paintbrush specifically for use with the Art Clay Gold Paste

FOR APPLYING ART CLAY GOLD PASTE ONTO CERAMIC, PORCELAIN OR GLASS SURFACES take out the amount needed and place it in a separate container.  Depending on the desired colour of gold needed, add a small amount of water or medium, mix well.

Overlaying

FOR ALL CERAMIC, PORCELAIN OR GLASS, diluting the Art Clay Gold Paste with the medium, not water, is recommended. 

FOR APPLYING ART CLAY GOLD PASTE ONTO A FIRED ART CLAY SILVER SURFACE

Always apply undiluted Art Clay Gold Paste to a matte unpolished Art Clay Silver surface. Before applying Art Clay Gold Paste to a polished Art Clay Silver surface, re-fire the silver piece in a kiln for 30 minutes at 700℃ to attain a raw silver matte surface first and then apply Art Clay Gold Paste.

**Thickness of the Art Clay Gold Paste application needs to be less than 0.5mm thick per layer. If using undiluted paste on glass or a thick glazed porcelain surface, the painted area may sink due to gold weight.
